Basic Stuff

Chalice for mana and CDR. Sightstone for free wards.Boots depend on your situation IMO mobi boots are really good, mercs for enemy CC, nija tabi if entrie enemy team has only AD.Aegis for tankiness for you and your team. Oracle for ward control. Shurelya's for helping engages and disengages.

Why? Q over W or E

Maxing Q makes Sona's early game damage very high. Allowing for high kill potential with your carry. Relatively Q is much stronger than W and E. W is for sustain but the heal is very small. E is for repositioning. E is NOT an Escape tool. IMO Sona's strength is her early game kill potential maxing Q first would make the best use of that strength. You can still max w first if sustain is needed.

Why?

taking flash is not an option whether it is flash ulting or flashing to escape certain situations it is essential.Heal for baiting. Ignite against heals e.g Soraka. Exhaust for the extra cc.

Why AD?!

Even Sona's basic attacks are pain in the early game.Get AD to help with DPS early increasing your kill potential. Armor and Magic Resist for tankiness in the early game. Movement speed quints can be used as well.

15 in defense for early game engages. Block is extremely powerful early. 15 in utility for extra money and mana.
