Prioritize getting rod of ages completed so you start scaling faster, after that work on your mobility because you're a chase and kite champ, then get rabadon for that sick damage everyone you play against hates you for. Void staff immediately afterwards because tanks be friggin crazy mid/late game. Rylai's for more kiting if you need it, zhonyas for pesky champs like zed, yasuo, fizz, anything that can one shot you when you make a mistake. Ludens as an alternative for either void or zhonya, it provides a fair amount of dps, as well as much needed movement speed. Alternatives, build tear, then abyssal, either finish rabadon, or build tear into seraphs depending on how stacked your tear is when you buy the needlessly large rod. I do not like this start because you're forced to buy void staff after you finish raba/sera, or risk being swallowed by the tanks. Abyssal is a good early game item, but doesn't do much for cassio in late. Only take this path if you're an experienced player.

If you max Q you're a failed cassiopeia. max E and spam that crap, it outdamages the Q by a long shot, you aren't meant to harass as cassiopeia, you're meant to catch and kill. Sometimes I'll invest 1 more point in W at lvl 10 before maxing Q to stick better on a target, Q doesn't give more movement speed with ranks, but W increases the slow value.

  • Exhaust

Flash is an absolute requirement, it synergises really well with your ultimate, and is roundabout a spell that everyone uses for escape and as a gap closer. I'll take ignite 95% of the time because I like to play aggressive and get kills at lvl 3 if the chance arises, some people don't like it because the range on it is shorter than E, your main damage tool. As for alternatives, I'll take teleport when playing against anything that you have to outfarm in lane and have almost no chances of killing or outplaying it(looking at you, lux and ahri players). Barrier is your personal -I don't want to die- button. Pick it when you want to play safe and scale into late game where you 3 button shred through everything, I'd recommend this to new cassiopeia players, seeing as early with her is really hard when you start playing her and don't get used to her mechanics. Pick exhaust when you know you are going to be outdamaged in lane and are going to have a lot of troubles, also when you're counterpicked by champs like zed, leblanc, and yasuo. Goes without saying but if the yasuo doesn't have the mechanics down pat you can go with ignite still, so it's a gamble, up until platinum levels you don't need to take exhaust in most cases anyway.

Penetration marks are pretty standard, it's only natural seeing as there's just so much penetration you can get ingame, every bit of it counts. Scaling hp/lvl seals are needed because you throw away the magic res from your glyphs, so to make up for it you throw away the armor and use runes that would compliment both armor and magic res. Scaling ap runes to scale into the late game and make up for the ap you lose by not using ap marks. As for quints, either take flat ap, or movement speed. Movement speed compliments cassiopeia a lot because of her 2 inborn slows and 1 movement speed buff(only once you've become adept at her)
